Mario Cantone, the stand up comedian who is also able to reproduce the voice of barely anyone – no matter male or female – is an eclectic artist. Movies and comedy shows, theatre on and off Broadway.
He was born and raised in Massachusetts from an Italian American “boisterous” family, as he himself described it: Mario is the fourth of five children, his father Mario sr. had a restaurant in Boston, his mother Elisabeth Pescione was a compulsive gambler who passed away when Mario was 21. A great part of the inspiration for his jokes and anecdotes he bursts onstage come from his family. “Someone may think it’s just stereotypical… I don’t know, it’s just my life. Everything I talk about it’s true. And you know what? The truth is funny”.

While doctors, nurses and care providers were quickly running out protections to be safe at work, an Italian American guy in love with fashion made his move. Christian Siriano, a young stylist of the NYC scene, answered the call: “If Governor Cuomo says we need masks, my team will help make some. I have a full sewing team still on staff working from home that can help”, he tweeted.
